Having had time to get used to my new kites and try them out in various conditions, I am so excited about their fantastic performance that I want to tell you a little bit about them and why I am so impressed.
I ride the Nobile NHP 666 kites and have them in 7m, 9m, 10m and 12m.
With this range I am able to go out in all kinds of winds and train, train , train.!!
The NHP 666 (Nobile High Performance)
GENERAL OVERVIEW OF THE KITE
Directed more towards the freestyle rider, the 666 has the classic C shape feel but is actually flatter in form. With a huge amount of De power, it allows the rider to tune the kite to suit the wind conditions without coming off the water.
For those of you looking for stability and constant pull whilst unhooking and carrying out your moves, the NHP is the one for you.
Nobile have hit the nail on the head first time round by producing a kite that has everything a budding freestyler or an experianced pro could want.
It has very little bar pressure when both hooked and un -hooked, huge lift, and stability. If that´s not enough, it absorbs gusts like no other allowing the rider to concentrate on the more important things like big moves no matter the conditions.
I will admit that whilst ¨Dorising¨ around chatting to a mate I managed to impale my kite on their garden fence. I went white!! i panicked !! and I thought it was going to be a disaster. - ha ha !! fear not. There was only one small tear in the kite as the material used is very strong.
When I am learning a new trick, and lets be honest, there are days when the kite spends more time in the water than in the air!! Well how else would I improve? Again the kites show outstanding durability.
THE KEY POINTS A 5 line kite for easy re launch and security. Great de power giving the kite a large wind range. Excellent turning axis for big kiteloops Unbeatable stability which every rider demands. Direct feeling from the kite with a low amount of pressure in the bar One pump system with valves to block off the struts to prevent total deflation if there is a puncture. The best line set up with set 20m + 5m extensions - quick and easy for even the laziest of kiters out there. A great sturdy and straight forward quick release system giving the rider maximum amount of confidence in their safety .
THE COMPLETE PACKAGE FULCRUM quick release 20 m lines +5m extensions Carbon Bar Safety leash XL pump Padded Backpack Repair and Spares Kit.
So lets have a closer look................
THE BAG - A Backpack style with thick padded back and straps providing maximum back support. A front pocket to store accesories and repair kits. All the bags are the same size and can fit both a 12m and 10m kite together; depending on your packing skills ! Mesh pockets on both sides of the bag are great for carrying your bars, pump and other bits and bobs to the beach. Stylish in Black with the Nobile Logo on the front. A compact, cool, comfortable and highly functional bag!!
THE BAR- LINES - 20 m + 5 m flying lines. If this isn´t clear the bar comes with 20 m lines with 5 m extensions and only one bar. Yipee ! This means quick and easy changes can be made on the beach. It is also Fool Proof ! the lines have loop/knot ends ensuring that even the blondies can´t attach them wrong !
The distance between the back lines can be adjusted between 48cm or 54cm An extremely comfortable bar covered in EVA foam and moulded to the hands for better grip. The bar ends give the rider the option of attaching the steering lines either on the inside or the outside to tune their kites turning speed.
THE INOX SWIVEL. This little trinket prevents the twisting of the 5th line and the front flying lines. This means for those riders who are practicing the same move over and over again which includes a rotation, the swivel stops the 5th line getting stuck when it all goes belly up and we need to use it. GENIUS !
THE EMERGENCY KILL HANDLE- Situated at the base of the back lines, it could get you out of a lot of trouble if needs be. Pulling this handle and ditching the kite will kill all the power in an emergency. Also, another handy point is that it can be used for self landing !
DE POWER STRAP This is so easy to use, finally a pull/pull sytem. This is how it works. Pull red toggle for depower, and to Re-power the kite pull the handle. THAT´S IT !!!
THE FULCRUM - THE ALL IMPORTANT SAFETY FEATURE It is the industry´s first 100% moulded quick release. It has a constant release pressure irrelevant to the force placed upon it. For any kiter safety is paramount and for sure this was considered by the Nobile Team during the design of the Fulcrum. However, as with anything it has to work. The "lock in finger" has 3 positions.
- Vertical, in order to put through the spreader bar to avoid unhooking.
- One click to the side and it is out of the way, giving you the option to unhook and to then use the original system again.
- Remove it completly for those more experianced riders who are constantly unhooking for tricks or riding in the waves.
This is a system that I had never come across before, but since I started using the kites I have been incredibly impressed. For me the ease of unhooking is very important in my riding , so with its solid structure and "no frills" to complicate things it suits me to the ground.
When it all goes belly up, and this happenes to everyone, you simply pull the red block away from your body... no more ! Nobile have produced a simple and highly functionable safety feature. Although I havn´t been riding for as long as some, when I crash, I crash hard and often in a heap. This safety aspect gives me the confidence to push myself that much further.
SIZES OF THE KITES 7m , 9m ,10m, 12m and 14m
